About Sarah’s Designs
Practices such as natural dyeing and hand block printing, fully endorse “slow crafting” which allow me to embrace projects reflective of our heritage and design past.
My motif’s convey the concept of time by representing repeating seasons and years. The block pattern shows a human relationship with time and nature - rigid, linear, with an attempt at control. The back side of the quilts show a deeper understanding of time which is unpredictable and layered. The two sides join together by stitches feeding into one another.
I was inspired by a visit to the Barn, seeing all aspects of its natural surroundings from the allotments, walled and wild gardens and stunning landscape.
